Yeast on Skin
Yeast naturally lives on a dog’s skin and ears, but when it grows out of control, it can cause problems. Signs may include itching, redness, greasy skin, a musty or “corn chip” odor, darkened skin, and recurring ear irritation. Yeast overgrowth is often secondary to another issue, such as allergies, moisture, or an underlying skin condition, so persistent problems should be evaluated by a veterinarian.
